Red, White, and Blue!
The challenge today over at the Stamp Something Challenge Blog was to create something that is NOT a card with this incredibly patriotic color palette. I did go through a bunch of ideas and eventually decided to make a fun and easy Patriotic Towel Beach Bag. I bought a navy and a red towel to do but only finished the navy one for this morning. I smell a tutorial with the red one.
I ironed both ribbons to the towel with hem tape. Then I folded the towel in half (ribbon sides together on the inside) and sewed 1/2 inch seams on each side. I measured the ribbon out for the handles, pinned it into place and sewed them on with a few back and forth stitches. I used clear acrylic handles because they were just too fun! Turn the bag right side out and you are done. See? Easy. The bag was going to be stamped with the name of the recipient. I chickened out because I didn’t want to ruin the bag. Next time, I will have the foresight to stamp the ribbon before adhering it the bag.
patriotic beach bag elements: Navy Hand Towel (approximate size 16 x 28), 1 3/4 inch grosgrain, 5/8 inch striped ribbon and acrylic handles.
