gaping hole.

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

We now have a gaping hole in our yard. Finally. The foundation was given the green light on Thursday so they started to dig. YAY!

the gaping hole.

I have been crafting. I’m digging myself out of another hole of half finished projects and high ambitions back from June.  I actually found a little bit of my crafty self the other day. It’s too bad that my time is so limited. I really could have stamped/scrapped all day. Maybe sometime soon. I did pull together two beach bags to send out this week.

bag!

I did post a tutorial for these awhile back. It’s my most popular post. You can find it here.

bags!

They came out cute! I’m happy with them. Now, I just have to ship them. I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. These long weekends go by way too fast!

Two posts, two days in a row. :)

Today’s post is not too exciting. I spent some time playing with my Cricut the other day. I put the Cricut cartridge Tags, Bags and Boxes to work. It’s definitely my favorite cartridge. I cut the flower box and then cut the flower tag in blackout mode to make the flower pop. I found these cute little totes and had to buy them!

bag!

I filled them with a bunch of little goodies. It was fun cutting away on the Cricut. I used the Design Studio to make sure the things were the size I wanted. The software made it very easy to determine the size of the object I needed to  cut.

I have to get these all in the mail!!! I plan on breaking out the yudu this week. I have a belated birthday present that I must finish. I’ve been so far behind.

old sandwich road race

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Another crazy month…June just flew by. At the beginning of the month, my friend Gracie traveled up from CT to race the Old Sandwich Road Race with me. It was fabulous. The course was beautiful. It was a hot and muggy day but that didn’t dampen the majestic beauty of this historic town road.

staging area.

The staging area was at beautiful Ellisville Harbor Park. The race started at 8:45 am so we didn’t have to rise too early to get to the starting line.

Isn’t Gracie so cute in her matching shirt and skirt? I wasn’t sure that I would need to bring my hydration on the course but I’m glad I did. The race director did a great job with the water stops but I think they could have added a few because it was such a hot day.

ready to go!

The course actually started on the dirt portion of Old Sandwich Road. The course was a little bit more effort but you were rewarded with lots of shade on this hot day.

ready, set, go!

And we were off! I spent the first 3 miles with Gracie but then we parted ways. My dear ole hammy doesn’t allow me to walk then start running again without protest. Gracie told me to go so I did but miss having her company.

whoa!

Once the majestic dirt portion ended, you hit the horse stables near my in-laws house. They were so pretty! My mother-in-law was waiting outside her house to greet me with some nice cold water. Bless that woman!!!!

gracie’s finish!

Gracie fought through a tough race and I managed to get back on the course to run the last quarter mile with her! It was awesome. She had made some great friends from CT on the course who kept her company. Overall, the race was fabulous and I would do it again. The only thing we missed were FINISHER MEDALS!!!! It would have been nice to celebrate our accomplishment with some fantastic bling. Maybe Craig will listen and have bling next year. :):):)

I’m here!!!

Ok, I CANNOT believe that it’s been so long since I have posted. My bad. However, one of the first reasons is this:

We sold our house!!!

sign.

The past month has been crazy!!! We accepted an offer on the house on April 16th…the Purchase and Sales was executed on April 26th. The closing was May 17th. We plan on building a new house. We have started the process and I will be posting on how it’s going. Right now, we are in a temporary rental. It’s a townhouse that my friend was trying to rent until the market comes back a bit more. It helps us and her out! However, we are still settling in.

Second:

We went on our 5th anniversary trip May 8 - May 13, which was a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale that went to Key West, Cozumel and the Bahamas. I will definitely have more pictures from the trip. The picture below was from my favorite part…we did an excursion in Cozumel. Wild Tours, an excursion company, took us for a crazy adventure through the Cozumel jungle for an incredible experience.  We drove an XRail Dune Buggy to the Jade Caverns and underground caves. I would highly recommend it to anyone going to Cozumel. We had a BLAST!!! More on this later though…here is the tease picture:

XRail Fun!

If you look back at the timeline, I had about one day to pack up our entire house. I had packed a little beforehand but there was still lots to do. We got back on May 13th, packed on May 14th, the movers came on May 15th and then passing papers on the 17th! PHEW! Before the cruise and the move, I was crafting a ton! I have so many back projects to post. The first was a card that I did for Mother’s Day.

white flower card.

This card just kind of came together. I wanted to use that big flower from Papertrey Ink’s Friends ‘Til the End set more. I think over the next few days you’ll get sick of seeing it so much!

close-up!

You can’t really tell in the above photo, but the black strip across the top is embossed polka dots. It does look really pretty in person. I have to bust out my camera and start taking normal pictures instead of taking pictures with my phone.

I was shopping for some cute Easter gifts and came across these little tote bags. I thought they were just too darn cute. They inspired a whole array of different Easter themed projects that I will posting this week. I had fun buying the candy this year. I got Cadbury Mini Eggs, traditional Cadbury Eggs, Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs, Twizzlers, Whopper Robin’s Eggs, Peeps and Jelly Bellys. I washed out a bunch of plastic Easter eggs and quickly began to fill them so I wouldn’t munch on the candy too much. :)

easter gift bags.

The tags were so much fun to make. I used some orange plaid from a Nana’s Nursery DCWV stack I had in my stash. I cut it with the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge with my Cricut. They came out so cute!!! These were cute at 2.5 inches. I used a random American Craft alphabet stamp set I had in my stash for the lettering.

I filled the bags with miscellaneous candy. I don’t think two bags received the same goodies. I bought two bags of Jelly Bellys that had a themed flavor…one lemonade and one berry smoothie. I put the jelly beans in their each little egg and labeled them with the flavor. I thought it was so clever. hehe.

jelly belly eggs.

And last but not least, the obligatory Marshmallow Peeps. Sure, people pretty much dig these guys because they’re cute notsomuch the flavor but they are the cornerstone of a complete Easter basket.

peeps!

For those of you who haven’t yet, check out the Washington Post  Marshmallow “Peep” Show. The creativity is just amazing!!!
