hittin’ the groove.

Being a running scrappy stamper is tough. So much to do so little time. But I love all my hobbies. I turned the comment section back on finally! Last night I went on a lovely 4 miler that was damp and slow. I’m hoping that my hammy gives me less slack when the weather gets cooler. hehe. The great news is that I’ve made progress on crafty projects. I have another gift set that I am finishing up and getting ready to send out. The project will be a lovely three poster! In the meantime, I finished my 2008 scrapbook cover and almost completed the first layout.

2008 Cover.

This is an 8×8 Martha Stewart post-bound album. I’ve never scrapped a year in something this small but I’m up for the challenge!!! The inspiration for this cover came from a Jennifer McGuire card in Creating Keepsakes and another cover I saw on two peas.

For the first layout, I have to finish adding some pewter photo mounts and ribbon. I’m loving the way it is turning out though!  It feels good to be getting the mojo and rhythm back.

Well, I have much to post. I am just waiting for everything to reach its destination. This is the completed set that I sent out last week. This set went to one of the foreskirts at Skirt Nation, Katie. She’s awesome. She always steps up to organize, help out and offer up a crash pad to us Skirts. Thanks Katie!!!!

completed set.

I put this picture in a first because it was a great one of Katie but my Shutterfly order came in time to swap it out with another great photo of her pre-Princess 1/2 Marathon. So, I decided that I had to switch it out for an “action photo.”

I cut the letter out of chipboard and deisgner paper with one of my Cuttlebug alphabets. I created a Mickey Mouse and a Cinderella Castle magnets for the frame. I used American Crafts rub-ons to create the lettering. It was a fun project!

Ok! Second layout for 2008 sort-of completed. I have to put the date and location on here still but it’s pretty much complete. The color combination was inspired by all the fun costumes that the characters wear and it just happens to go with my sisters shirt too.

sisterly love layout.

I am thinking about putting the date in the vertical strip with a die-cut label somehow. I cut the title with my Cricut. The “sisterly” sentiment uses the free font “Black Jack” cut using SCAL. The “LOVE” and swirl were cut with the Lyrical Letters cartridge.

I am really enjoying using my Cricut. SCAL gives me a ton of freedom to cut what I want. I was pretty impressed with the Lyrical Letters cartridge. Seven fonts accompanied with various sayings and embellishments. For the contents, I thought the price was one of the most reasonable cartridges out there. Tonight, I hope to work on some gifts that I have been neglecting and of course, Mother’s Day cards…eeek. That’s Sunday, huh? I better get movin’.

It’s been beautiful here so I have not been creating at my desk lately. I did have a chance to do some layout work the other night. I thought it was finished but I’m not 100% happy with the layout. So, instead I have a sneak peek.

I hope to finish it tonight. The weather has cooled down a little here so it will be easier to concentrate. LOL! I hope everyone is having a great week. Spring is here and I’m diggin’ it!

Into 2008.

Scrapbooking has been on my agenda since the beginning of the year. I don’t like to get more than a year behind. I generally only scrap significant things in my life…notsomuch the everyday stuff. I don’t like to scrap a pictures of my breakfast or even family holidays. I’m thinking it’s because I don’t like to journal. I like the pictures to tell the story. Now how much sense does a layout of Cheerios make without some sort of journaling? :)

pagemap

I used this sketch by pagemaps to create the layout. I like to use Becky’s sketches. They are fun!!! I take my creative liberties, of course. But I don’t understand why scrapbook sketches are so easy for my to work with but card ones throw me for a loop. Hmmmm… The photo isn’t great but I didn’t have the time to go look for the easels last night. I’ve already started working on the next layout from this trip. Very fun! I also think I’m obsessed with Mickey heads out of buttons. I keep using it. I think I have to come up with something different. hehe.
