Old Goodies.

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Last night, I didn’t get anything new done. But I did manage to go through and clean out a bunch of old things. So, today’s post will be some of my favorites that I created last year.

One of last year’s Christmas cards:

Go Vote!

Own your opinion! Go Vote! hehe. I love to vote because one, I can complain about the person elected if I didn’t vote for him and the other morons did, or two, I can say I can’t complain because I voted for the jamoke and better luck next time. :) I will send you to the polls laced with sugary thoughts of a nugget box I put together. It just dawned on me that I should have done something patriotic or red, white and blue today. Oops.

I love to use the Cuttlebug embossing folders to make interesting things with acetate. I am still waiting for some store to wake up and start carrying more of these! Patiently. hehe.

The craft fair this weekend went ok. I was a little disappointed that I only sold enough merchandise to cover my booth and expenses. However, I spoke to other ladies at the fair and they said that the turn out was not what is was last year. Actually, they didn’t have much of a turn out at all. I have one more fair this winter and I am happy that I have some leftover items to sell so I’m not as stressed. My most popular item was a tea tin filled with biscotti.

The bright news is that I already received a phone order for more cards. A couple of ladies took my cards because they need shower favors done. The tea tin fits three pieces of Nonna Biscotti perfectly. I was able to use some leftover DCWV paper on these too!

Stamp Something Challenge blog issued a sketch challenge for the team this week. As you know, I tend to take many creative liberties when working with a sketch. This week is no exception. When I do sketches, I always lean toward making a card with the sketch. However, since I was crafting things for my fair, I thought that an alterable would be a fun way to shake up the sketch.

The sketch:

This is what I saw for my tealight tin after working with the sketch. My liberties were using the candles as my “image” and changing the tag shape along with some shifting of the location of the elements.

These were fun to make using the fake snow on the bottom to enhance the winter feel. The candles smell good too. Make sure to visit all the other great design team creations!

No More Nuggets!!!

Hehe! I have made 30 of these nugget boxes in an assortment of colors and styles for my upcoming craft fair. I am going to rework this one a little by adding some silver cording so it’s more of a tag. I think I want to center the tags too. I’m a little stressed because the deadline is rapidly approaching. I still think that my inventory is a little weak.

My darling husband has convinced me not to get too worked up, telling me that if I sell out that’s a good thing. If I sell out, it means I sold stuff so I should be happy. Then there is this little doubt that keeps telling me that no one will want to shell out the dough for the handmade items. I’m trying to beat that goon down. I did a craft fair a few years ago with a friend and we only sold two cards. So, I hope this year is different. Different products and they’re more my style.
